I used a 6 way extension which i attached to the wall behind the stand and looped the cables together and cabled tied. It still looked a bit tatty but not as bad so i invested in a couple of mirrors.
Where did you get the glass shelves? I'm looking for something similar for when we move. What goes around - comes around0 -

I have two dvd players as one is a recorder. So I can play dvd's and the copy them onto the HDD so I don't have to keep getting all my dvd's out.
Perhaps that is what it's down to then ah - just getting some cable tidies.
Thanks for your help guys.
Jasmin,
You may be able to cut down a bit, I hate too many boxes under the TV it looks really bad, I too have a DVD recorder and DVD and also an old VCR.
What I do is keep the DVD player and VCR in the cupboard and on the rare occation I need to copy anything I get them out and plug them in via the composite (red yellow & Black) connectors on the front of my DVD recorder.
It make a big difference and if your like me the DVD player does not often get used to copy DVD's to the HDD.
Even better you could invest in a portable DVD player (much smaller) and use in the same way as well as taking it out and about in the car etc..0 -

There's 2 different shelves there. There's 2 under the plasma which were from B&Q for about £16 each. I bought them hoping to be able to put the DVD and Sky+ box on them but they're not wide enough.
The glass stand is from Richer Sounds and cost £119 but well worth it and has cable management in the stand, but i got too stressed it it all to use it. It's a Gale Vetro Hi Fi rack but looks the nuts for TV stuff.0 -

Have you tried repositioning your sub? Vibarations will have a negative effect on the sound of your set up and having the sub on the rack with the rest of the equipment isn't ideal! Maybe you won't notice any difference but I would give it a try if you've got time to kill on a rainy Sunday afternoon!0 -
Tony,
Yeah I was thinking of putting the DVD Player in the play room/family room and keeping the dvd recorder in the. lounge.TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0 -
Timmy..
It 'should' go near an outside wall but i live in a mid mews (dunno why they can't call them a terrace) so there are no outside walls and i don't fancy having it next to the neighbours wall.
The amp and speakers give out some hefty sound so i've had to turn the sub right down so i don't end up with next door complaining. It's running on -5db at the minute and the amp is pumping out around -20db when watching films. It sounds ok where it is but if i could have the volume higher i would move it, just can't in this house.0 -
To be honest I was thing more about keeping the vibrations away from the rest of your kit rather than than trying to get a better sound from the sub itself. I have my dvd player sitting on sorbothane feet with the sub next to my equipment rack but it's sitting on two isolation platforms and it has made a notable improvement.
Sorry if I'm getting a bit techie but I'm a bit of a hifi nerd!0 -
i've never noticed any vibration to be honest although i watch very few DVD's. Best bit of kit i've wasted money on to be honest although i want a 65inch HDTV LCD and SkyHD, can't afford it like but one day..... one day....0
