advice on a new laptop

Hi I'm hoping to get a lappie and have about 260 pounds which i know is not a lot but there you have it.
Anybody have any recommendations , If I waited till october what are the chances of getting more for my bucks , would they be clearing old vista stock .

    I don't think there will be any "clearing of vista stock", Microsoft are avoiding this by giving free upgrades to Win7 with new purchases of Vista.

    Assuming you want a proper laptop, not a netbook, then at that price you are looking at a refurb from Laptops Direct or similar. If you can up your budget to say £350 then you'll have a choice of new machines, albeit at the entry level in terms of spec. Something like a Dell Inspiron.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    You can get something from Dell Outlet for around that price.

    Just try to look for something with Vista Home Premium (as opposed to Home Basic).
