Abbey - are they really trouble?

My gran wants to set up an ISA but doesn't want internet/telephone banking but 'proper' High Street account with a passbook. As far as I can see Abbey's 4.6 per cent is the best deal available in the circumstances so I've suggested she try them. However, I was reading the money pages in the Sunday papers over the weekend and a financial journalist said that she had more complaints about Abbey than any other bank. Has anyone else experienced problems with them?

Cheers, I might look into that...although I suspect she won't want to chop and change between accounts much. It's taken me an age to get her to even think about an ISA over a regular savings account!0
