Abbey - are they really trouble?

My gran wants to set up an ISA but doesn't want internet/telephone banking but 'proper' High Street account with a passbook. As far as I can see Abbey's 4.6 per cent is the best deal available in the circumstances so I've suggested she try them. However, I was reading the money pages in the Sunday papers over the weekend and a financial journalist said that she had more complaints about Abbey than any other bank. Has anyone else experienced problems with them?

ive been looking for isa for myself and currently bradford and bingley looks a better bet at 5.1% for one year fixed rate.
  • Cheers, I might look into that...although I suspect she won't want to chop and change between accounts much. It's taken me an age to get her to even think about an ISA over a regular savings account!
  • Is your gran actually a taxpayer?
Everyone needs something to believe in.

I believe I need another beer.
