Shorting somewhere imo. Sounds like PC is getting a signal request to turn off again.
Remove motherboard from tray, and only have the pwr switch connecting wire attached (remove led, reset etc)

Someone else had a similar problem, and it turned out to be a corrupt bios?

I've taken the motherboard out of the case, put it on the desk and hooked it up to the PSU. I've also reset the CMOS and given the system a thorough dusting, but it still won't stay on for longer than a fraction of a second.

In short: it's either the board or the processor, so I might as well replace both. Any suggestions?

My computer failed to boot up properly and I took out 1024 (leaving 512) of added ram and now it works perfect!!

If I add the 1024 ram back it won't boot up properly!!!

Sometimes a re installation of Windows helps.

I've already tried firing it up without any RAM in it. It won't stay on long enough to complain that there isn't any there!

I've just replaced the motherboard, processor and RAM with an overclocked bundle from OcUK. It works, but that's not saying much; I've effectively got a new PC here!

Though I may not have saved very much money, I now have something that'll hopefully last longer than what I had before. Thanks for all the help.
