Kaspersky is good but I wouldn't bother paying personally. I use:
Anti-vius - Avira: http://download.cnet.com/Avira-AntiVir-Personal-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10322935.html?part=dl-10322935&subj=dl&!!!!!button&cdlPid=11012914
Anti-malware - Malwarebytes: http://dw.com.com/redir?edId=3&siteId=4&oId=3000-8022_4-10804572&ontId=8022_4&spi=7b3e98daf390ca082fb36b632ae5216b&lop=link<ype=dl_dlnow&pid=11080953&mfgId=6290020&merId=6290020&pguid=ouLqtAoPjAIAAEUK1jcAAADK&destUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fdownload.cnet.com%2F3001-8022_4-10804572.html%3Fspi%3D7b3e98daf390ca082fb36b632ae5216b%26part%3Ddl-10804572
Anti-spyware - Superantispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWAREFREE
Browser - Firefox with the Adblock Plus add on: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.5.2&os=win&lang=en-GB
Updates - Install any available security updates from Windows updates: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
Finally a healthy dose of common sense goes a long way.0 -
I'd get the 3 user kaspersky 2009 from amazon for £17ish. It automatically upgrades to the 2010 edition, and is much cheaper. I got it, and if you can afford it, it's a great investment.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

It's really very simple.shaun40400 wrote: »Anti-malware - Malwarebytes: how do you use this- First download from here
- Install then open the program
- It's important to make sure you update it before scanning. Click on the update tab then click Check for Updates.
- Once complete back to the Scanner tab then perform a Full Scan.
- Delete whatever it finds then you're done. Optionally post the log file it produces back on here to make sure there's nothing else you need to run to get rid of dependent on what nasties it may find.
Again it's really very simple.shaun40400 wrote: »Anti-spyware - Superantispyware: have used this but not fully converse with it- First download from here

Glad to hear it.shaun40400 wrote: »Browser - Firefox with the Adblock Plus add on:have this
It really depends how it's set up. Please give the following a quick read, it's really quite approachable and easy to understand:shaun40400 wrote: »Updates - Install any available security updates from Windows updates:running vista it does this its self?

If you do any online banking, most banks offer a full year's antivirus for free. Im currently using Barclays' Kaspersky 20090
