Reclaiming parking tickets

I was talking to someone over dinner the other evening who said that a friend had written to their local council, citing the DPA, asking for full details of all tickets received in the last 6 years with a view to reclaiming them. My ears pricked up immediately, as I would at a stroke declare Q3 profits exceeding those Barclays and Goldman Sachs combined, should I get a rebate from old parking tickets.
Has anyone been down this route at all, or am I excited over nothing???
Obviously it would be dependent upon being able to prove that the tickets were issued incorrectly, but given the posts I've read on this forum over the past few weeks I feel sufficiently armed to do that!

You are probably excited over nothing. Once paid, the chances of reclaiming anything are next to nil and you would have an uphill battle to do so as you have technically admitted the "offence" by paying.
Much better to challenge it strongly before you do pay.
