Car insurance help please

Hi
I have currently got a Fiesta which is insured until 29 August 2009.
A very kind friend has decided to give me their car, a Hyundai Accent, so I am sorting out the insurance in order to collect it.
The lowest price I have been quoted is by the same insurance company I have the Fiesta with.
I have spoken to them and explained that I will be getting the Accent over the weekend but I will still need the insurance on the Fiesta until the end of August.
They have said that they can't do that and that I have to just swop over the insurance cover from the Fiesta to the Accent.
If I have paid for insurance cover on the Fiesta until 29 August, can't they just do a brand new insurance cover for the Accent and then the insurance on the Fiesta will just cease on 29 August.
Any help would be appreciated as I need to get this sorted because of collecting the car.

You can only insure 1 car per no claims earned.
Just get short term car insurance on the accent till the policy expires on the fiesta then swap it over.
