Text From Barclays

Just thought i would share the text i just recieved from Barclaycard (bearing in mind i told them contact by letter only)

"Your barclaycard account is 2 months overdue. Your credit rating is now being affected by this debt please call us to discuss your options."

A if they accepted my token payment they would have had some money instead of none....

B I'm going bankrupt so my credit rating is mud, and about to become a lot worse

Just reply `STOP` & they must stop sending you the texts....very annoying are`nt they.

LOL...I offered token payments to all my creditors last May 08...all refused...sadly this added to the stress & due to illness my income ceased.

Had they been more accomodating I would have been able to pay them something & may not have been so ill from the stress. Still ...thats their loss now.

    Hi,

I think that's the story with most of us on here. I offered all my creditors token payments which were acccepted for the first month then they pile on the pressure each month to increase, "send in yr financial statement etc" - why when nothing has changed? Benefits only go up once a year so why do we have to keep reviewing every mth etc.

If mine had been more accomadating we may have continued to pay. But s*d em. Now BR so their own problem.

    Good luck.x

Beware, I too get lots of texts from Barclaycard. I do not and have never had one - there are scammers flooding my mobile phone at the moment. (and this is a pay and go phone that is a few weeks old and the number has not been given to anyone (even I don't know it lol)).

The text asked me to contact 0844 5560057 or 0844 5560058 and a Google search revealed a lot of people in a similar position.[FONT=&quot]

I did complain about this to Barclaycard but didn't get the courtesy of a reply...

  • Barclaycard are the only people who wouldn't accept the pro rata payments offered in our DMP - they want a minimum of £5 per month despite that meaning their percentage was way more than other creditors as we owe them a relatively small £300 odd. Their approach worked though with us because they hassled us so much with texts, automated phone calls at 8 am on a weekend that i have ended up setting up a standing order to them outside of my DMP for £5 per month just to shut them up! Thinkin about it i will cancel that now so that when i go BR on 28th August it doesn't look like a preferential payment - however small!

I would just ignore and delete the text messages. If it is a scam and you reply it could cost you a lot of money!

    :j :j

  • Yeah i am ignorning them, what the companies that constantly call don't realise is that i have changed my mobile number. So the number they call sits at home in a drawer all day and when i get home and find the masses of missed calls it makes me wonder. Is my debt to them that important that they HAVE to call me 17 times a day?!?

Makes me feel so much sympathy for those that have them constantly calling the land line (i just got the landline set up and its x directory)

I unplugged my phone at 8:00 am and put it back in at 9:00 pm most days to avoid it ringing. You get put on automatic dialling which is why if you mistakenly pick up you can tell, there is always a second or two delay which gives you just enough time to hang up! hehehe
