.xls attachment

I have a report to fill in on an .xls attachment but I cant open it without errors.I have microsoft works task launcher and I down loaded open office yesterday but it was the microsoft task launcher that automatically tried to open it.I'm not very tech minded and I'm new to using excel so i may need more advice when I'm filling the report in.But for now can anyone help me open the dashed thing!

    If you right click on the file and go to "Open With", you should get an option to open it in Open Office.

    Yep,I did that but the recommended option was windows mail so I used the browse button and found openoffice.org 3 double click opens to list and now I'm stuck.

    Have you activated open office? i.e. opened "open office Calc" and followed the instructions?
    Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p

    I think that got it. It looks like a form overlaid on a calc sheet but its readable and I can email it so must be okay.Thanks for that.
