Any experience with `The Tech Guys`?

Hi,

so my laptop went off last week to have the hinge and screen bezel repaired.

Has anyone here had work done by them? How was it? And how long did it take to be returned?

Is this a trick question ???? :rotfl:

put it this way, make sure you check it over VERY carefully when you get it back, don't be suprised if it's developed more faults while it's been away and the original fault is still present....and beware the line "we think it needs a new MOBO"

p.s. if prone to fainting, dizziness, etc., open the bill whilst sitting down ;)

Much experience with the Tech Guys!

They're not too bad for turnaround time, generally. I would imagine it should be back with you in the next few days.

Well it was sent to them because of my dad's business account with PC World, and we had all the cover, so it wouldn't have been worth taking it anywhere else.

I'm going to search now :)

The good news is that the price of new laptops has taken a tumble compared to what it was a few years back.

We use them but if our laptop has minor faults we tend to put up wth it as it always come back with a new fault!

Its just come back to us yesterday and is ok so far - they had it for 2 wks. Before that tho we they had it for 3 wks and we had it back for one day and had to return it as it has a new fault with keyboard! So apart from one day in the last 5 wks the tech guys have had it. They have given us motherboards new plug incharger new keyboards new screen and top and we ony sent it away as the charger was not working (we prevously sent it back for this before and they didn't fix it but gave it another problem!) We only pay £7.99 a month for it via PCworld tho and apparently they have used £700 worth of new parts this month which is more that it originally cost!

Being able to spend more on parts than something originally cost new and still failing to fix it is probably as good an indication as any of their efficiency and competence :)

I'm suprised they admit to something like that..... then again not :p

Yes, I had to tell them to stop playing "stone discus" next to my car earlier this morning. Their mommy was most displeased, but what can you do? school holidays you see :p
