where as it gone

Hi,hope you can help,when i download a attatchment from my email,it thinks its saving it to desktop,but no,it is not there.
i have found a shortcut for it in AppData .???????
las time i had this problem,i think it was something to do with google chrome.
I run on vista,my email account is talktalk.

    c:\users\USERNAME\appdata\local\temp probably

    That might be hidden folder so you may have to set your settings to show system folders in windows explorer.

    Did you download the attachment in Chrome or do you use outlook or outlook express?

    Which email client are you using, or are you using webmail? Do you still have the email so that you could go back and re-download it to somewhere you know.

    Do you still have the email? If so, just download the attachment again and save it to my documents or somthing like that.

    If you click on the little spanner icon on the top right and select downloads, do you see the attachment listed there?
