Nitromors and lead

I'm looking to renovate the front door to my house. It has a really nice leaded-light window, which unfortunately has little whisps of white paint around the edges from where the door was previously painted.
I don't intend to strip the whole thing before painting, but want to remove these stray bits. Scrapping with a craft knife doesn't work (I didn't want to try too hard, with the lead being so soft) so I was going to use Nitromors, applied with an artist's brush, just at the edges of the frame.
Will this be okay, or will it react with the lead, creating more problems for me?

I have a feeling there might be some sort of a chemical reaction cos old Mitromors is wicked stuff ....it would be a shame to spoil the leaded light.
Why not get one of those scrapers that you use for removing paint off glass....they have a stanley knife blade in them.
You should then be able to work right up to the edge of the lead with no problems.0 -
The problem is there are bits of paint on the lead itself - whoever painted last wasn't too careful with his/her cutting in...
I've tried scraping, but as I say, with the lead being so soft, it's inevitable that it'll end up getting marked.0 -
Nitromors does not seem to touch lead, apart from possibly changing surface colouration in an unremarkable way. Your problem will be removing the paint softened by the Nitromors, as you will probably have to undertake some mechanical action - scrapping or scrubbing.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. A bit of gentle wire-wooling should do it. I guess I'll end up with shining bits, but they'll soon weather back.0
