Scottish power and SPM collections

I hope someone can help me. I have rang scottish power several times about this. I kept getting a bill for £29 for electricity and £35 for gas. Thing is i am on prepayment meter so i know that i do not owe them this money but they are saying that i do.

Now this morning i have a letter from SPM collections threatening to take me to court. What can i do?

Hi Fannyannie,

Really sorry to hear of the problems you have been experiencing recently.

You are correct in thinking that as you have prepayment meters then you should not end up with a final bill to pay, however it can sometimes happen when changing supplier.

More often than not the new supplier will provide us with an estimated meter reading which we use to close your account. If this estimate is not very accurate it can generate a balance or in some cases a credit on the final bill.

I suspect this is may be true in your own case. If you would like me to investigate this personally please PM me your account details and I will do all I can to get the matter resolved asap.
