Not quite true. If the Yanks hadn't given up buying gas guzzlers then Ford, GM, Chevrolet, etc. would still be selling them.

Well I can only comment on cars available to the UK and european market.

Their climate comitments are not the same as ours. But I would still argue I bet they have become more powerfull and more efficent also over the last 10 years.

Why do they leave hundreds of thousands of them sitting in dockyards ?

Why don't they sell those if they are short of cash ?

    We don't need new ones.

Not that you will get it like you did not get they remove one car for each new one purchased.

Many car manufacturers have started producing again meaning supplies of made ones have started to run down.

why are people so narrow minded! if people want to go out and get themselves a new car whats the problem, my car is ten years old ive had it for five, it's been a great little car but now it's costing me too much to repair so iv'e opted for a new one and paid cash for it under the scrappage scheme, why assume because you have an old car your destitute. my new car will last me years i have no desire to trade it in so depreciation is not an issue it's worked for me and many others

Looks like grahams guess of 95% using dealer finance was way out.

Looks like the majority have paid cash.

I paid cash on a Skoda Fabia 1. I am 25 years old and had a mazda 121 that was 11 years old that I had for 2 years. it was really on its last legs.
Dealer put A/C for free and got the 70PS version all in cost £6500

Sorry I missed out the part that I put £2000 on my tesco credit card 0% for 12 months. I had to bargain for ages to let them do it without charging a credit card fee.
