applied for one of these and they sed they'd write to me.
received a letter yesterday asking me to send 2 ORIGINAL copies of ID. like passport and driving licence.
is this safe?

I personally wouldn't send my passport or driving licence through the post, even if it is recorded delivery. Dont they ask for anything else like a utility bill or bank statement?We’ve had to remove your signature. I think you can take your documents into a Halifax/BOS branch and they will photocopy and stamp them as original seen/witnessedOfficial SOS Club number 004 - Dry until (05.01.10)0

Yes and a bank employee, civil servant or post office employee can do this! The same rules apply to passport countersignatories (i've done hundreds in the past being i'm civil service) - see here for details: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Passports/Applicationinformation/DG_174151
Send me a copy and i'll certify it for you via email.... its not foolproof, nothing is nowadays! :beer:
