I am with Eon on their price protection 16 tariff capped until oct. I currently pay £75 a month, which is obviously already too much as I am £50 in credit. In 10 days time they are going to put my payments up to £120, which is nearly double.

Now I know ALL about protecting us for the winter blah blah blah but no matter how much I talk with eon they refuse to lower the amount. I would quite happily accept an increase to say £90 a month but thuis amount is silly. N power did it to me last year and never got my money back to the tune of several hundred pounds.

I simply cannot afford this amount and as I have told eon, I havent got a company at home that takes money from me to budget petrol for the winter. I do that myself. I am more than capable of bufget for my own winter and if needed can put extra money aside in MY bank account not theirs.

I am so angry but looking at U switch I do not appear to have any options

Could you move away from DD and still stay on the price protection tariff? You could either put the money aside and pay the quarterly bill or set up a standing order for what you can afford.
And while you are in credit now, there may still be ways you can reduce your consumption.
Keep giveing them readings no matter what.

    Hi OnTheUp,

I’m sorry the new Direct Debit amount is causing concern. :o

The new Direct Debit amount will be calculated based on the consumption history E.ON hold; this will be accurate as long as the readings on your account are correct. Check you don’t have estimated bills as they may be incorrect and will affect the outcome of the Direct Debit review.

If E.ON persist that this amount is correct ask for the breakdown of how they calculate this amount, this can be provided. ;)

If the figures are accurate and you are forecast to use 12 x £120 worth of energy then only reducing your consumption or a tariff change will reduce this.

As you know with Direct Debit being in credit in the summer is par for the course. If you don’t agree with the way the fixed Direct Debit works then a different payment method may suit you better. Unfortunately with Direct Debit you will have credit with E.ON at some point. Paying by another method means you would lose a discount of 8 percent.

    Brian :)

Why does this have to be explicitly requested? Why is it not provided by default at every alteration?

Your numbers suggest you do not 'know ALL about' spreading payments out. £50 is a very small credit. An extra £15 per month starting in August is not going to help, much. £120 is not 'nearly double' £75. The increase is nearly half that!

If you are not happy paying in advance and spreading the payments over a year then feel free to forgo the 13.5%-odd price reduction and pay more for quarterly billing. (But if you 'can' not afford £120 per month now where you will find £250 or £350 per month come winter I do not know.)

(And why have you allowed nPower to keep your money? That does not make any sense.)

Cost and possibly environmental concerns I guess. Printing, posting etc a load of stuff many people probably don't want and would probably just end up in the bin.

A bit like how many companies don't send shareholders full accounts now, unless explicitly requested.

and what planet do you live on? 250 - 350 a month? You must live in a 50 be mansion with every light on 24/7

Wooo don't get your knickers in a twist KIM, how passionate some people get... lol

Unfortunately Kim you do NOT appear to know nearly as much as you think you do, the discount I would lose is a mere 5% not 13%... £50 may be small to you but is alot to me and a medal for realising that I am not happy paying in advance hence why im on here:rotfl:

FYI I will not be in the property in the depths of winter and I have certainly never had a bill for £250 a month

Its a shame when people feel the need to be so sharp
