Is there any way you can connect a Freeview Box to your TV at the same time as a SKY Box?

Might sound weird, but my flatmate wants to buy one, as the new channel ITV Play is not on the SKY EPG yet, and when it is, she'll try the Freeview box in her room.

If I can't connect it to the TV at the same time as SKY, could I get a double scart adaptor or something similar?

Thanks

try two different scart sockets or a double one which you could use one at a time. i have loads connected to my tv ie sky/ps2/souround sound/dvd and an extra dvd player. it should work

    Hello

I dont know if this will help but its the only thing I can think of and it depends on how many scart sockets are on the back of your TV.

If you have 1 scart socket only:
If you have 1 scart socket only, then unless you can connect your freewiew box via photo leads (Yellow=Picture Red=Sound One Channel White=Sound other channel) IF your box has the output option to do this. If not, I am afreid you will need to get a double scart adapter and have to keep changing it when you want Sky/Freeview.

If you have 2 scart sockets 1 in use 0 free:
This one is the easy one, if you have at least 1 spare scart socket on yuor TV then you will be able to plug the freeview box into one of the spare sockets and then select AV1, AV2 etc from your remote to change between Sky and Freeview.

If you have 2 scart sockets 2 in use 0 free:
It depends on your setup but you will still have the same sort of issues as the first example. So just follow that and it should help you.

If I was wrong in understanding your question, OR if I can help out any more, please let me know and I will do my best.

I have only one scart socket, which is being used by the DVD Player, so I can swap between the DVD player and Freeview when and where needed?

I think my main Q's are:

    1. Freeview runs through the Scart Scocket?

    2. If Freeview is through the Scart Socket, and the Sky is through the TV Ariel.......will they both work at the same time, or would I have to disconnect Sky?

free view does run via a scart socket
if you buy a double scart (about £4.00) you can use sky or freeview only one at a time that should work.

Cheers, sounds like it would be simple enough and freeview would just run through the channel I use for DVD Player

I too only have scart thing in the back of my TV, and also have Freeview and two DVD players hooked up to this one tele too.

I bought an Hitachi switcher thing from Argos . So I have the scart from the switcher going to my TV. The scarts from the Freeview boc, the DVD Recorder and the other DVD player all go into the 3 way switcher. So when I watch Freeview I press the button on the switcher and then if I want to watch one of the other DVD players I simply press the relevant switcher button.

I think it's quite good as before I kept having to manually swap all the scarts round whenever I wanted to watch the DVD Player.

I think the various posters are complicating this- my answer would be - yes you can

You can daisy chain the RF/ aieral leads so that you can tune different TV channels to the boxes - say 6 for sky and 7 for free

I would do it roof aerial to freeview- freeview to sky, sky to vcr, and vcr to distribution system (either a wired or wireless one) Distribution system to all Tvs in the house.

In addition I would connect scarts to your most important sources to the TV. Again you can try daisy chaining - and the most significant source will come through. May have to turn off the source you dont want -

    ok ?
