RapportService.exe constantly running

Hi I am a complete PC novice so please be gentle with me!
I noticed that something is working in the background, this has happened for the last 2 days. Having searched previous threads to find similar problems I have established from Task Manager that RapportService.exe is constantly running even when not connected to the Internet and uses up to 50% of CPU. Following advice from previous threads I downloaded Malwarebytes and it has found 2 things and deleted them, they were Adware and Wormp2p. However RapportService.exe is still wirring away. I know this is the software from the Banks so am worried that someone is trying to attack my PC and that it is why it is constantly going. I upgraded to Internet Explorer 8 yesterday so
dont know if that has any bearing on it. Can't remember though if this problem started before or after that. Also have Norton 360 and am on Vista.
Any advice in VERY simple terms would be much appreciated

I run Vista, ie8 and rapport.exe is constantly running, but mine uses ~ 00 CPU. Have you set up rapport properly? Click start, all programs, trusteer rapport, rapport console or rapport support page for help. You may need to uninstall then re-install rapport (and ditch Norton 360).

You could speak to your bank? Mine has a free help line for online banking / PC related problems.

  • rapport.exe is from a company called Trusteer which provide additional security for your web browser. It is usually installed as part of newer online banking systems. Quite a few of the banks now use this system RBS, Natwest & ING Direct to name a few. Missile is right, you need to contact your online banking support people

  • RapportService will always run in background and use CPU resources. I had emailed them and they confirmed this to be so. I now only turn it on when doing online banking or online shopping otherwise it is turned off. There are links in the Start menu to turn it on and off. You can copy these links to your desktop.

Please open malwarebytes, goto LOGS and post the WHOLE of the log (Copy and paste it)

then Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin)
