According to Ebay rules he's got 7 days in which to pay. After that I think you can start a non payment dispute.
It's a wee while since I've sold something so unsure how to go about doing that, but I found this help page on eBay which may help: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/unpaid-items.html
Failing that, I'm sure somebody will be along in the morning to help out.- Go to My eBay.
- Click the Sold view.
- Next to your listing, select Resolve a problem from the pull-down menu.
The Resolution Centre – 'Resolve a problem' form appears. - Select 'I sold an item and haven't received my payment yet' and click Continue.
- Sign in to your account. The 'Report an unpaid item case' form appears.
- If you get to the Resolution Centre from your item listing, your item number is already filled in.
- If you get there another way, enter your item number and click Continue.
- Under 'What has happened so far?, pull down the answers to the question and click Continue.
- On the 'Review Unpaid Item case details' page, review the case before clicking Continue.

Most people will choose to open the dispute as soon as the 7 days are up. I give them 24 hrs friendly warning before I do, they still get 7 days of the dispute to pay up then. Or you get your fee's back and they get a strike.0

Dont be too eager to badger buyers for payment. They have 7 days to pay and many take them. Just send an invoice after the auction and then leave it for the full 7 days. If no response send a friendly reminder. I start a dispute after a second less friendly reminder at about day 10.0

Yeah, I tend to leave them to ir for 7 days after the auction ends and sending an invoice. Most seem to pay in that time, or contact you with any issues, (I'm more than happy to wait for payment if someone lets me know, I've been known to wait 3wks till payday for an item, because the buyer emailed to let me know what was going on) but after the 7th day if I haven't heard anythign I tend to open a dispute.0

7 days at least before raising a claim.
I follow ebay's recommendation regarding intermediate chasing. i.e. contact after about 3 working days if no payment/contact.
I would probably chase again on day 7. How much longer, if anything, before the claim is filed would depend on the vibes I was getting e.g. based on buyers previous history/feedback, price bid (compared to what I expected), item itself, etc."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
