Best shops to haggle for LCD TV?

Harvey Norman have been advertising on the radio & in the Belfast tele that they are doing 16% off almost everything including electricals, tvs, computers etc this weekend.
So you've a choice of heading to the one near abbey centre or over near ikea.
Dunno if they will let you haggle though, but sure you can try!0 -
Hi,
I saw an advertisement today in a local paper for Dalzell's in Markethill. They have a Sharp 32" LCD for £379. Built in freeview and HD Ready.0 -

Thanks for all the feedback and help, you have all outdone yourselves.
I picked up the Toshiba 32" LCD (32AV615DB) from Laser last night with a £30 discount.
Had tried Currys and PC world but they wouldn't budge on price and didn't appear too know too much about what they were selling. They also would run away for long periods of time to 'See what they could do on the computer' this pretty much meant they were going to look to see if they had it in stock and not much else!
RicherSounds had a great offer on the same set in Mainland UK for less than £300 but they wouldn't take sales direct over the phone and said that they would only be able to offer to send it to the belfast branch for them to sell it on. I tried to explain this to the Belfast branch but they kept telling me that they couldn't get that stock sent over (even though I spoke with their internet sales people in England who said that they could) In the end I felt like I was banging my head off a brick wall and even though they have a great reputation for service and price... on this occasion they weren't able to go that extra mile.
Dixons and other internet only retailers could supply the Toshiba at around £300 but in the end I opted to go with Laser. I've basically paid an extra £20 for being impatient. I'd rather pay that so that I could take it away then and there (and also have a place to bring it back to in person should something go wrong)
Overall I'm very happy with the set and with Laser. For those of you looking for a 32" I would recommend the Toshiba for value for money... its not full 1920 HD but it is good for the size and price... reviews can be seen by searching for 'revoo' + '32AV615DB' (it should be one of the top links on google search)
Of the stores I went to I found that Harvey Normans and Sams Yer Man (both East Belfast) were both very helpful and able to do deals but neither stocked the Toshiba. If I had been willing to go the extra £100 on a set then I would go back to Sams Yer Man. I also found that Blackwood Electrics on the Saintfield Road were very helpful over the phone and again willing to do a deal but they didn't stock the Toshiba
I'm glad the whole process is over... the world of plasmas and LCDs is a vaste and confusing one!
Happy hunting to the rest of you!!

strange one this...personally I would have gone to Richer Sounds (just outside Castle Court)...always found them great to "barter" with...and ALWAYS got great deals from them, the guys in the shop are usually brilliant and no pressure to buy...but they still usually get the sale on priceI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
I've had the same richer sounds experience in the past if its not in the Belfast shop when you go in, you've no mission of getting the deal.........Norn Iron Club Member #64

I gotta say, my son is one of those 'boys toys' geeks, and got a fab price for the 52"LCD tv he wanted in the Gidea Park Richer Sounds and the service was excellent. And they had to special order it too.0

Hi all,
I have good experience with RS most of the time too, pretty good except on one occassion they would only price match the 5 year warranty price of the 40W5500 (no TV only which sucked ) so after alot of online searching, comparing prices I got mine from Dixons for £699 with one of there voucher codes "big5" which has ended now (3 year warranty included
), found lots of good info on the set along with price comparison & the affor mentioned code at this Sony centric site:
Sony Bravia
I found it very useful & think it would be very useful for anybody after a sony bravia TV, hope the rest of you do too.
