Can anyone help my Canon Ixus 70 please ?

The lcd display and pictures on my daughters Canon Ixus 70 are quite blurred all of a sudden...........Probably because it has been dropped, submerged or covered in mud or sand whilst partying at Glastonbury ( All denied of course ! )
I'm just wondering if it can be fixed by unscrewing an cleaning out ( It looks a bit grimey inside )
My local camera shop said it wasn't worth repairing, but everything works perfectly other than everything is blurred..................Any ideas .........any camera buffs on here ?
