uPVC is cheap as chips and Im not knocking it, but it doesn't look as nice as timber,it isn't a highly skilled job to make upvc windows and doors,as such timber will always be more expensive and to be honest a well made ,good quality hardwood pair of French doors and frame will last longer than any upvc, yes it does need some maintenance.Guess its like compaing chalk and cheese,2 different animals.
Upvc is NOT enviromentally friendly at all ,where as timber is at least sustainable and carbon neutral, but then Im a joiner so im biased..:D0
