PayPal protection for non-ebay (private sale) goods? Does this exist?

Hi there! I wish to buy an item of relatively small value (£15) from a person referred to me by a well-established eBay member. Although this transaction would not go through eBay, and would just be a case of me sending money via PayPal to him.
His PayPal status is un-verified and "new", though he sounds genuine enough and I really would love to buy this item!
Would I still get some form of PayPal protection in case he didn't send anything?

dont know but if you pay by credit card. Then if it doesnt arrive contact your credit card and report it as undelivered they then hold paypal responsible and a charge back occurshhobba wrote:Hi there!
