I know there is a thread somewhere for opinions on supermarkets value labels but i cant find it, I have tried quite a few value items now and have been mostly impressed, until today ! Tesco Value Teabags must be the nastiest cup of tea ive ever tasted lol  . It was worth a try at less than 30p for 80 but i wont be buying them again.

There was an article in The Times today about people 'downshifting' to supermarket value brands and the Tesco Teabags were singled out for some harsh criticism.
I've had the Sainsburys ones and they were OK, tbh but I prefer a nice cup of Earl Grey. Haven't yet found a 'value' version of those!0 -
Not a tea drinker myself, but I've never found value teabags/coffee to be any good at all.
OH loves his tea strong, so we buy a few packs when we see something he likes on offer. I love decent coffee and try to drink mostly decaff which is very difficult to find at a cheap price - again I buy plenty when I see it on offer.
I do find 'Asda own brand' is just about 'acceptable' when really skint though.0 -
I dont remember the exact cost but Asda do a big bag of 400 odd tea bags, own brand, and it is the best cheap tea I have tasted.
Earl Grey teabags are cheapest in Lidls I think.VR repayment £404 £156.02 PAID
Airpods repayment £249 £185 £75.90 PAID
Airpods repayment £144 £99.01 PAID

I've seen the Earl Grey in Lidl but it didn't smell much of bergamot when I picked it up and had a sniff - not been brave enough to try it yet!0 -
I dont personally drink earl grey, but mum does and she likes the lidls ones.
But she doesnt like strong tea ( she nearly died when I gave her a Yorkshire Tea !!) so I am not sure if this makes a difference with earl grey?VR repayment £404 £156.02 PAID

Well, Earl Grey is supposed to be a bit lighter and more fragrant than 'normal' tea, so that makes sense. I might give them a whirl when I get to the end of my Sainsburys' EG . Thanks.0 -

Don't know how Tesco manage to stay top of the supermarkets, I have said it for years, the majority of Tesco value is RUBBISH, IN OTHER WORDS,. "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR"0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies.
