Short of gaffer taping the dog's gob.....

A dog I used to have many years ago often got grass seed in his paw and had quite a few ops. We ended up bandaging all four paws, using socks and gaffer tape at the top to hold it on, as well as a buster collar. We got through all our odd socks as well as friends and families, sometimes Ollie had four socks on each paw lol! gave him a 1 in 4 chance of getting the poorly paw. I've used the comfey collars recently and they are a lot more comfortable than the buster ones and no injuries from bumping into things, I got mine at VetUK various sizes and around £7-8. Good luck and I hope your doggy gets well soon.0

With our cat when it had it's tail amputated we put a small pop bottle over the wound and taped it to his fur. Maybe you could use a coke bottle although it would impeed the dog walking.
Good luck0 -
You could try a sock on the foot and spray the sock in bitter apple spray which you can buy from the pet shop dont spray on to sore skin tho, otherwise, a buster collar but shouldnt really leave the dog alone while wearing it in case it panics.
have you thought about a dog sitter for the day?
Will she eat stuffed bones kongs etc to distract her from licking at her self. If you buy the hollow bones from a pet shop you can stuff them with tinned meat and freeze them so it takes a long time to chew, buster cubes can have treats in so will also distract her from licking herself. Only works if shes a foodie type dog tho.sonnyboy0 -
Muzzles do help but can't be used when the Dog is unattended, also tho you can buy them for EBT's I dunno where from, they can also be removed by the Dog!0

Thanks all for your suggestions- she's still in one piece (just about) and is now thoroughly bandaged with the buster on standby - luckily I've now got the next 2 days off so I can stay with her after which mum can take over ( dog sitters are out due to her antisocial tendencies). The bandage is driving her nuts, but as she was stupid enough to try to ignore the pain of a raw foot to try to dig a hole while on the way to the vet I have no sympathy at all. The vet says bull terriers are brave - me, I tend towards the "where there's no sense" theory.
She is also now answering to "leave it alone" as her new name.
The kong is a good idea - wish I'd thought of that myself as I have a housefull of the things.
UKTigerlily-you're right, the muzzle can be off in less than a minute if you really put the effort in!All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
lol my bull terrier (Staff flavour) will stick her nose to the ground, slot her claws in the gaps in the muzzle & pull it forwards while yanking her head back!0
