Advertising Pop Ups, How do I stop them???

I have started receiving pop up over the past couple of weeks although I have them blocked. They all have a mulicoloured icon on them, like coloured blocks or jigsaw pieces. Does anyone know where they are coming from and even better, how to stop them. thanks in advance

sounds like you've been infected with ad-ware of some kind follow the above advice as if you've caught one infection you don't know what else you may have caught.
