Ebay listing order

Can anybody explain briefly the order of listings. Ive just listed some cricket tickets on a 1 day listing which have gone to the bottom of page 3, the very last item, whereas somebody has listed exactly the same thing as me and theyve gone on page 1 in the right time area.
Have I done something wrong? Ive been waiting for it to change but no sign yet.
Thanks.

Ebay is using 'Best Match' rather than 'Time Ending Soonest' as their default search option. Buyers can change this when they are searching, I know I always do!

Yes, the new default search options are useless to my mind. It brings up an odd series of stuff I never want to see, most of them not actually "best match" for what I have searched for. I always change it to ending sonest or closest if it is a collect item.

You can change the default search setting for your account.
Obviously only works if you are logged in.

  • Thanks for the replies. So I think what youre saying is just because Im seeing it as the last item other people arent. Funny the way they do that isnt it?

Every one will see it where you see it unless they reset their viewing to ending soonest or such like.

Well the items finished now and sold for £120 and the other item that was on about the same time sold for £200. My item never left page 3 on the search and the other item was always on page 1. I really dont understand it. Is it the wording or what?

It is a combination of things and frankly I neither understand nor can explain how it works.

It is based on seller satisfaction scores and I would suggest that you check your expanded seller dashboard to make sure nothing has crept in there. It is also based on costs, the higher the P and p the lower visibility it should get (although that is rather over simplyfying it!).

Thats exactly it Soolin. Ive just found it in my dashboard. Theyve reduced my status for dropping slightly below the norm on dispatch time.
Thats costing me a lot of money so Ill get somebody else to sell them for me.
Thanks for your help in getting to the bottom of it.

Was it a temporary glitch that meant you were a little slow in despatching If so, sell a few things with a high turnover and you'll soon get up in high visibility again and can sell them yourself.
