Sky Talk - Line disconnected

Hi
Woke up this morning, went to make a phone call to no dial tone.

Called Sky who i belong to and was told i no longer have a phone line with them. That a 3rd party must have disconnected me. THat i need to e-mail sky and ask them to reconnect (he could not transfer me) and complain to Ofcom.

I think this is a load of rubbish as i still have broadband working.

How can a 3rd party just come along and disconnect me??
Also, surely sky would charge me for breaking my contract??
