Cycling to Dumbarton need somewhere to stay

We are cycling from Aberfoyle and need an overnight stay, we thought about Dumbarton area as we will be cycling to Glasgow next day. We need to stay somewhere where our bikes will be safe and where we could get something to eat. We would be happy with a B&B or a small hotel any ideas please We are arriving on 2 July leaving Glasgow 3 July.

    Hi there

there is a Travelodge in Dumbarton which for your dates is £26 room only and the Abbotsford Hotel also. Both are very central and there are places to eat near both.

Thanks for the information there are 4 of us travelling but when I tried to book 2 rooms at the Travel Lodge they would only give 1 £26 room the other was £49 . Do you think they may release more £26 rooms if we wait until nearer the time?
I will make enquiries about the Abbotsford Hotel.l

did you try to book them separately? Book one and then go on again and book the other? Maybe using a diff card? Sounds silly but some hotel reservation system work that way. Have a look at the terms and conditions to see what the cancellation policy is (just incase that doesn't work!)

Thank you sorry to take so long to reply We are taking ther cycle route 7 passing near Balloch, Alexandria and Renton. Any help would be appreciated we can't go too far off the route because we may be too tired. I am not good at cycling on roads as I cannot do hand signals so beware.

Have you thought about stopping off in Balloch, plenty of bbs around or if your keen plenty of camping sites or theres the youthhostel

Another hotel thats not too far from the cycle path is the dumbuck hotel

You will find the cycle path from balloch to glasgow very easy going, are you taking in any other paths whilst your there?

Its not very far from Balloch (approx 3-4miles), as you can see from this map its not too far from Dumbarton.

On that map the dotted line is the railway, the cycle path basically follows the line through to Glasgow.
