Problems with '3' network, please help!

Hi there, hope this is the right place to ask about this!

My partner recently had a contract mobile phone sent to him by 3, only problem is when they called him they did not state who they were when they offered him "an upgrade". He assumed they were O2 whom he is currently with, and ordered this phone!

So he tried to call them on the number given for cancellations, but they will not answer their phones! He is now outwith the 7 day contact period for a cancellation, he has tried for well over an hour for more than 2 days now, at different times of the day. Since he is at work when he's calling, he can't just sit on the phone all day lol.

He is now very angry and worried that this means he'll have to keep the contract. I've tried as well and they just won't let you speak to someone.

Has anyone got any suggestions?
I think it's terrible that they did not state who they were.
They did this to me recently but thankfully they got cut off. O2 must be giving the other phone companies our details of when the contracts expire!

Hope someone can help, we're at a loss.

Thanks.

I state the obvious if you cant get them on the phone ( and I had the same problem at the end of my contract) send them a recored delivery letter saying you no longer want the handset and it is available for collection or if they provide a prepaid bag you will send.

As long as its done before the 14 days (and the recorded date stamp is your evidence) you should be OK.

Make sure you detail the numerous unsuccesful calls in case you need to take it to a regulator.

    Hi

Are you sure it was 3 direct. Their number is 08707 330 333 is this the number you have phoned, they usual answer phones within seconds.

Yes that's the number we tried :(
We've also tried dialling 333 but that just rings out...

I'll try the recorded delivery letter, I think it's pretty unacceptable service that they have nobody answering phones. He got through from another 3 number on the letter, but it was almost like they had their headsets on their desks not working. He could hear chatter but nobody would talk to him!

    Bizarre.

It's not uncommon to get cold calls from companies misleading you into believing the call is from the network. Are you positive the call was from 3 itself and not a third party? What number do you have for them?

They can work out from your mobile number what network it was originally assigned to and roughly when the connection was made. So they can then make a good guess if your contract is coming to an end.

08707 330 333 - this is the number he has been trying, he has tried it from both a landline and a mobile.

If you dial that number you will get the automated service. I was on 3 for 18 months and the automated service usually answers within 2 rings.

If you want to speak to a 'human' about leaving 3. Dial 08707 330 333 wait for the prompts and press 1, 5, 3.

Or you can press 1, 6 for general enquires.
