Quick Q about Post office/recorded delivery

Hi, I sent 4 letters with tickets enclosed today, recorded delivery. I noticed afterwards whilst looking at the receipts that 1 of the address's couldn't be found or confirmed? The address IS confirmed on ebay. Does this mean it won't get there or that perhaps its a new build or something? Was a weird address, didn't have a number.
Anyone shed any light? Many thanks

It might mean never bothered to check the address, or it might mean they did try and it wasn't a recognised by Royal Mail as a correct address (although they usually question it then)
You can check the address on the postcode finder on the RoyalMail website.
If they can't deliver the item, it'll be returned."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
A paypal address (not ebay as you should ignore that one) doesn't have to be capable of being legitimate oddly enough, so just because paypal say it is confirmed doesn't mean the PO will recognise it.
I am suprised though that the PO sent the item, whenever I've had addresses that are not in the data base at the PO they refuse to send it recorded or special and get me to recheck and change the address.
It is also interesting to note that one of the claims for loss that I have had refused by Royal Mail was because the address was not in their data base, yet it was sent to a major university in the UK that has been established over 400 years!
If it does get lost then you will lose a paypal chargeback as it won't show as tracked anyway, if it arrives then all will be well although of course recorded doesn't actually cover tickets for loss in the post.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Aren't tickets supposed to be sent special delivery, not recorded delivery?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I've had several occasions when the PO system would not verify an address that I had previously checked on their online address finder. If the postcode is correct it is not really a worry.0

If your tickets were worth more than £39 you should really have sent them Special delivery to ensure that you are covered. RD is notorious for not getting signatures and normally not worth the extra 75p.0

Well I'm pretty much a newbie to Ebay, and was selling them as I'm too skint to go anymore.
I checked the RM postcode tracker, and yep the address is there, so dunno why the woman couldn't find it, or still sent it for that matter.
Didn't know that you weren't meant to send them to the ebay address, thank god they are all the same as the paypal one. I'll know in future.
Yeah I know I should of sent special delivery, but I said on the blurb that it would be recorded, as it's a lot cheaper than the £4.90 SD, they still bought it.
Better just get there.....0 -
You should send them to the PAYPAL address to be covered by paypal not the ebay one. RD may be cheaper than special delivery but you are guaranteed a signature. RD frequently does not get a signature. Without a signature you cannot prove to paypal delivery so a buyer could claim non delivery and you would have to refund them. Special delivery is for your protection not the buyers0

Tickets are specifically excluded from standard mail compensation and of course Recorded is standard mail

Well the ebay and paypal addresses are the same, so that's okay?
Well I'll know in future, just hope they don't try and scam me then. How long does RD take to get there, about 2 days?0 -
Awww your joking, it just says cash and valuables on the receipt. What an idiot I am!0
