NatWest and RBS Credit Cards - not willing to refund £12 charges

Hi,

I have requested 2 claims for both my RBS and NatWest credit cards. I have received letter back from them stating that because the £12 charges I'm claiming for (£244 - NatWest, £60 - RBS) are inline with the Office of Fair Trading, that I won't get these back. Only Natwest have offered £17.50 as a difference between 2 £20 charges I received (plus interest).

Should I be happy with this? I was under the impression that I could claim back the £12 charges as well, or is this not the case?!

Many thanks!!

Google OFT 842 and quote them 1.14.
OFT 842 is the credit card report that they are quoting. Tell them that the OFT did not say that £12.00 was fair but they did say that ONLY a court could decide a fair charge. Tell them that to avoid further litigation costs on their part they can either settle the claim or have the additional expense of county court litigation.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

I had both Mint and Natwest cards and last week received cheques for all charges and 8% interest from them. The RBS account had been settled about 6 weeks ago for about 45% of the outstanding debt and the Natwest account with £8500 on it is frozen with no ongoing charges or interest and I'm currently paying £1 per month. Very kindly they still sent me a cheque rather than using it to reduce the balance:j

Send them a second letter - you should get a result

    Good luck

    Thanks for you advice.

Should I adapt the second letter on the Credit Card charges page or start afresh? I'm not sure whether a second letter should be straight court action or just outline the OFT's notes or both?

I just used the template letter, I had thought of changing it but decided otherwise. I think it says everything necessary

Great. I've used the letter and added (842) after the OFT section. Just so they know what I mean!!
