Quote for electric works

Electrician is charging £285 a day, this seems expensive to me even in Greater London. I have got the impression, he is working with a mate, in that case, it seem a fair quote. Also with being by the day, what's the average hours in a working day, is it 7 or 8hrs?

Day rate can have It's problems, some tradespeople are as slow as 'a week in the jail' price for the job is much better IMO.0

I was quoted over £300 per day last year when looking for an electrician to rewire my new house. It sounded costly when I was told how many days they estimated; 15-16 days. I called others in, butI found some people weren't interested in the job, which really surprised me. One electrician even told me he felt the job was too large for him, yet advertised that he specialised in house rewires.
In the end it was done by somebody who my nephew knows & I was given a price for the job based on the amount of sockets, light fittings, smoke alarms etc. The whole job was costed at £3230 for a 3 bedroomed home & materials charged at cost. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
