New diary

Options
Not sure how long I will be able to keep this up but have been very inspired by debtfreesomeday diary on here. Found it through the mse e-mail.
She is hugely inspirational and has kept the diary for ages. Am soooo impressed.
Anyway have been a member of mse for a while but lost touch what with my business and everyday life. So have decided to have another go at competions and points sites. I had a real good christmas one year with all the freebees I got that year.
Have visited my ipoints and have 5137 points, not sure if they have changed the system but dont seem to have enough points for anything yet. My pigsback account has been put to zero so lost some there but will start clicking again now. 10 points today!!
Have listed some books on amazon so fingers crossed.
Have a small craft business on e-bay, started in July and is going slowly but things are selling and have started entering comps daily with the help of lovely people on here.
Apart from that I have my own Cafe I run which has been very stressful but am now getting time off so all's looking good.
Would love advice, any tips for money saving from anyone and will try to update as things happen.
Happy saving to u all.
Wendy. x

Such nice things said about my incessant ramblings... thanks very much for your kind words Wendy, am glad, whilst also shocked (!), to hear my 'mutterings' may have helped someone else a little.

Happy New Diary to you Wendy! May it be full of fun, laughter and head on debt-tackling-ness....

As promised I've subscribed and shall be checking up on you and reading with interest.

P.S. What sort of crafty things are you interested in? I love making things and am quite creative too but never find the time or inclination!

    Good luck!

Aww two posts thats so great, Thank you.
I like card making mainly but am interested in starting jewellery. As said I have a Cafe to run so have just been so stressed lately. I am now taking time off to catch up on paper work but seem to be addicted to here!!!!
What with competitions reading your diarys lol.
I sell craft materials in the cafe and have an e-bay shop (really need to get listing on there) What is it you both do?
Will look up the scratch card site thanks.
Had a look at my Amazon account today as nothing is happening. It seems I have 0% feedback so noone will buy from me. The only feedback i have is one negative from 2007. Forgot i'd even listed before. Going to phone them now see if there is anything i can do. So not feeling so positive about my new selling.

yes crafting can be expensive but fun!!!
We all have to have something we enjoy.
Got my Amazon account sorted. I am now officially a new seller.
Hopefully will start selling my books now.
Counted up my penny jar. Only £3 but will start my nice new savings account off. Think I will save up to a certain amount and then pay something off.
Have a Barclaycard maxed out to £4624.45. Cant seem to transfer it to 0% so am paying massive interest charges each month but am hoping to sell my business so will be able to clear that (and all other debts)
Well there I have put down an amount of a debt I owe. First time ever. I must be really serious about sorting myself out at last. May even put it on my sig but will be depressing when I pay something off and the interest bumps it up again, So maybe I wont.

  • Hi Wendy

Well done on sorting the Amazon thing out, hopefully your books will be selling in no time. ;)

As for the signature bit, I recommend you do list your debts in there - although interest will be driving them up at times it is a really good motivational tool and people often read your signature and offer help or suggestions. Try putting them with the apr's etc and someone may come up with a good idea as to re-arranging the debt.

Have you had a look at www. whatsthecost .co.uk? Try out the snowball calculator, print one out and stick it up somewhere where you can cross the payments off each time you make one. Also tells you what your debt free date will be which is something to aim towards.

Well have had a pretty sad weekend. Have felt down and ill most of it. Think I've had too much time off and lost my motivation.
One quick thing before I go to bed. I've had my first sale on amazon yay!!!
Was beginning to think my books were all rubbish lol but may hold out for a while longer now. Total sale is £6.30 but got to post it. Is it alright to post 2nd class?. Might not be much difference between 1st and 2nd but every penny counts. Have missed DFSD diary this weekend. Hope your back soon with some motivation for me. xxx

Well the days just seemed to get worse with my motivation. Although I did get up this morning and go and post my Amazon book (2nd class as did save a few pennys) Posted another two craft sales from E-bay too. Decided to put all my new savings like penny jar, Amazon into my bank account that I need to clear. I know I dont owe much but when this is cleared up I can see the saving mount up. (hopefully)
Been following a few threads lately and got an amazing link will try and post when I suss out how to, Anyway it's to http://flylady.net/index.asp If your feeling low and unmotivated it really is good. I followed the baby steps link and now find myself with a shinny clean sink. (sounds weird but it did work) and a nightime routine. Feeling quite refreshed and looking forward to tomorrow.
Might pop off and enter a few comps now.

  • Hi Wendy

Well done on the progress and the Amazon sale. You do have to be patient with Amazon unfortunately as it can sometimes takes months to sell a book; but at least it's not costing you anything whilst it's sat there - unlike ebay!

The link sounds good - will have a look at that myself now as could do with a shiny sink and a bit of motivation myself!

As for comps, we've just come back from a weekend in Barcelona courtesy of a comp I won on here, so I'd definitely say it's worth entering them when you can. I've been a bit slack on that front lately, but do need to get entering stuff again soon.

    Good luck

Well just have to say I am a lucky lucky girl. My mum has just offered to pay off my Barclaycard!!!! No more interest payments for me. I do feel bad as it is my debt but cant stand the thought of £70 month in interest. Can just pay as and when to my mum now. It's such a relief, dont realise how much stress is caused by debt untill you get rid of it. Feel so much better with that one gone.
Small sale on amazon as well today £2.06 got to post cd out of that but dont think it will cost much..... hopefully.
OOO and also had a lovely order for 6 handmade cards that will cost buyer £3 each. Thing are def looking up.
Entered a few comps so fingers crossed I might win something.
    Good day today.
For everyone with debt, stay strong it will go in the end. Even if not lucky like I have been keep on with payments however small and you will get through it!!
