Do a search on "video capture card" Probably a USB one would be simplest.
They can capture analogue video (which you will be able to get from your video camera or a VHS recorder using the appropriate cables) and save it to hard disk. You'll then need to look at DVD authoring software (and a DVD burner if you don't have one).0 -
If you have a DVD recorder (for your TV), you can just hook it up to the VHS via Scart and copy from VHS to DVD, without using a computer. Obviously a computer will offer more flexibility, you'll need a capture card and software as mentioned above.
If you have a Mac it's a bit simpler, as all you'll need is a composite capture dongle, all the software you need is right there.0 -
just looked on the net and i can buy a piece of kit called 'EasyCap'
anyone tried this out??All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
It looked too cheap to me to be any good and I expected to find a pile of bad reviews. Amazingly the first couple I came across are very positive....

Where these things usually fall over is in not being able to keep up the frame rate. Dropped frames = jerky video. That review doesn't mention it at all.
I'd say at that price there is little to lose other than wasting time. If I had a need to do this I'd buy one.0 -
This is exactly want I want to do! I have access to a DVD recorder (eldest daughter's room) and a video player (youngest daughter's room) both are connected up to TVs. I guess I will have to unhook the video player from from one room and hook it up to the DVD recorder. Now comes the difficult bit - what cable would go where? I'm assuming that I would set the video to play and the DVD to record simultaneously. Is it possible that you can post idiot proof instructions here? I would be so grateful as I have stacks of holiday, birthday etc recordings and to be honest they're a pain in the *** on video! If you have a DVD recorder (for your TV), you can just hook it up to the VHS via Scart and copy from VHS to DVD, without using a computer.
Thanks.0
