Decking Help

I am trying to save money and have ago at doing my own decking
The only prob is the shape is a L which seems to complicate things alittle
I was planning on having a ground level base that would be supported by patio slabs from the old patio instead of concreting posts in.
I'm trying to keep it as low to the ground as possible, I just wondered what size wood should I use for the frame is 2x4 ok?
any advice much appreciated?

There shouldn't be any problems with laying decking ontop of your existing slabs, as long as you allow some gaps in the frame for water to drain away. (I did something very similar in my old house).
As for the frame, yes, 4x2 will be fine, just make sure it's tanalized...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I was in B&Q the other day, and guy in an orange uniform came over to me and asked me if I wanted decking, luckily I got the first punch in...

I have just finished building a large deck for my son. It is all built over a very bad patio. All done with 4x2 framing. Rigid as you like. Very easy and interesting project. All the wood came from Wickes and is treated, sawn timber.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
