I know this is already known about, but I thought I would share my letter to BT complaining of their 'low usage charge' for Caller Number Display.

You're wrong in your closing paragraph, BT doesn't have a monopoly on the local line to your house. There are numerous 'line providers' now and you are free to change at any time.
Indeed, Martin's 5 August email tip details one - and a £1.75/month saving on line rental too.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
