Emails bouncing

Options
Hi
I get a lot of messages from forums I belong to telling me they are not sending any more messages as they bounce. I haven't been able to join freecycle as they can't get the messages through to me - what would cause this?
Thanks!

That'ld be your ISP (or mail provider).

You need to check your email settings, in either Outlook Express/Thunderbird

Email bounces at the server e.g. inbox full, no such user etc not at the client.

The OP needs to state where they pick their mail up from: an ISP or webmail?

    Hi
Yes, quite right, totally distracted, what I should have said was do you have AntiSpam software, that could be bouncing your emails, without you knowing.

    Sorry about that.
  • I don't think I have anti spam - I pick up email with my ISP and always have less than 10 messages sitting in my inbox.
I am also getting a lot of emails trying to sell me sex related items (??!!) that end in .ru - I keep blocking them on the block sender bit now I am getting lots of emails trying to sell me shares?
So i guess I wouldn't have an anti spam - I have search and destroy from spybot but had bouncing emails before I had that.
    Thanks

    Who's yer ISP? AOL?

Search this forum for SPAM. You'll see plenty of client-side tools which'll filter your email marking and moving items it detects as spam.

The likelihood is that someone you know has gotten infected with a virus which has picked up your email address.
  • Supanet is the ISP, its supposed to filter all the emails that end in .ru but it doesn't.

There's one post on adslguide about bounced messages but supanet replied that they'ld have to see the orginal message to see why it was rejected (which is quite correct).

It looks like you'll have to contact supanet to find out why their filters are bouncing valid emails. I'm surprised they don't just mark it as [SPAM] and leave you to decide what to do with it.

Are you deleting the read emails on the ISP's server though? You inbox may have only a few but unless you tick delete at server in your email settings, the server will have the lot.You should be able to go onto the ISP's site and delete them using your password etc.
  • I'll check that out - whenever i go tothe ISP's site there doesn't seem to be many on there though. I'll have to contact them, thanks!
