Mobile phone / landline security?

Evening all :0)

Just a quick Q: I picked up my mobile to make a call and heard my own voice, tv and the noise in the room I was in coming from the mobile's earpiece. There was about a 1 sec delay. This coincided with a few days when I couldn't send or recieve texts. Only solved it when I took the battery out and replaced it after a few mins....I also get clicks and echos on my landline....spooky?

Is this something I should worry about security wise?

If anyone was 'tapping' my mobile they'll be very dissappointed (calls pizza shop etc :p)

Thanks in advance

  • Maybe your number is similar to Gordon Brown, or Jordan or Peter Andre and the phone tapper has misentered a digit!

The news papers were calling voicemail boxes which didn't have passwords set, very different to intercepting a digital mobile telephone call...

Your phones internal circuitry is supposed to first of all remove any sound below a certain volume level, secondly it should take any sound going into the mic and remove that from the sound coming through the earpiece (simple signal subtraction) to prevent feedback, which is the screeching sound when you put a mic next to the speaker.
What I can't remember is why the mic / speaker aren't completely separated, but there is a reason lol
It sounds to me like your phone has some issues.

As for your landline.... I couldn't guess without knowing if your on a BT line or Cable.
