Hmmm....a pondering.....DRO related
MY DRO has been in place since May, and gradually Im trying to get my life back on track.
Im hoping to go to college in September, but one thing is holding me back.......
The course I intend to do is an ILEX course, training to be a legal executive.
Having researched on the tinterweb, it seems that becoming a member of ILEX (compulsary with the course) is not cut and dried if you are bankrupt or are a discharged bankrupt, infact Im pretty sure they would reject you.
Where would I stand with a DRO? Not technically bankrupt, but technically is, if you catch my drift......
No point plugging away on a course for 2 years, if you are barred from your chosen career at the end of it.
Thoughts anyone??

Hmmm, DRO's are new and these restrictions would be in the ILEX T&Cs not in Insolvency law and so probably haven't been updated yet. on the other hand IVA's, BR's and DRO's are all formal insolvencys so do the T&C's refer to bankruptcy in particular or to Insolvencys in generalHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.0 -
Quote from ILEX membership application form:
"3. Bankruptcy:Has an application for a bankruptcy order ever been made against you?
Has a company of which you are, or were, a director gone into compulsory or voluntary liquidationon grounds of insolvency? Have you entered into any voluntary arrangements with creditors under
the Insolvency Act 1986? "I used to be Snow White, but I drifted.Mae West

Is a DRO covered under the Insolvency Act 1986 ? Have there been amendments to that Act following DRO introduction?
Having said that...`have you entered into any vol arrangements with creditors` that would have to be a `yes`.0 -
Feel slightly gutted..........
Have emailed ILEX themselves who will hopefully be able to clarify the matter.
Will update if and when I get an answer.
Should have thought about this before I started getting college places, and trying to get the funding in place:(:(

Remember elfieb.....the usual wording is often ambiguous...`may` `perhaps` etc etc. Don`t give up hope.
I know people who are BR & working in Financial Services in regulated roles. It is not a foregone conclusion & may be for only `undicharged`/`during 12 months period.0
