BT Reduced Calling Plan Scam

A quick word of warning.
I received a telephone call from a 'Tim Davies' today who stated he was calling from BT with good news regarding my calling plan. He sounded very plausible saying that due to 'new regulations' my line rental would be reducd to £9.99 a month including VAT etc. He gave a very detailed talk about how much different calls would cost, how I could talk free for 90 minutes etc. He even supplied a telephone number 0800 036 3839 then press option 1! I was then asked to confirm which bank I used for my BT direct debit. Of course I declined to give him any of my bank details. He continued to argue that he couldn't OK this 'new deal' without my confirmation. I continued to decline so he eventually gave up and hung up the phone.
I called BT and they confirmed that this is a scam.
Please everyone be aware and warn everybody you know. This guy was good - very good!
