trojan and spyware

my mates son pc has a fake virus that he got from facebook


it is called smartdefender pro that downloaded on to there pc we have done scans but nothing comes up the only way to get rid off it is pay how do we get it off the pc as it keeps popping up and saying there is 300 trojans on there ?

finally got rid of the virus after 4 hours i had to google smartdefender pro and progammes came up to get rid of it i had to get godzilla to get rid in the end so ty for ya tips

Godzilla used to be a download manager, and still is as far as i know. How would that get rid of it.
