Will BT ever charge me to go back to them?

I've just been talked into signing up with Sky Talk (3 months free and £10 per month after that).

A couple of questions:

will BT charge me to go back to them if i so wish?
and
I use 0844/0871 numbers a lot to call international numbers. Are Sky Talk charges for these numbers the same as what BT charge?

Any pitfalls i should be aware of before i commit to the 12 month contract?

No idea but you will be shocked by their prices for 0845 and 0870 numbers, I suspect that 0844 etc will be much more expensive as well. You could use the 18185 or 1899 0800 numbers for international calls.

Some price comparisons are on here

Call them up and ask them

It'll be £11 by the time your three free months are over.

Sky's charges for 0870 numbers are now the same as for 01/02/03 numbers.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
