Gas Armoured Cabling Help [Electricians]

Ok im having some major problems here.

Basically, i need a new cooker and dual fuel is the cooker we're going for. For this cooker we need a 40amp fuse box fitted.

My electric box in the cellar shows that there is a 40 amp cable somewhere, but two of the electricians i called cant find the wire for it. Theyre saying it is probably under the floorboards somewhere and finding it is gonna take a really really long time.

So they suggested two things -

1. Pull the wire from the circuit box and wire it on the INSIDE. Basically it has to go from the cellar, come out, along the wall, through the boiler cupboard and then into position near the cooker.

2. Pull the wire from the outside, armour cable it (6mm he said) and then drill a hole so it comes from outside to in. Also he will make a box on the outside, and will loop the wire from underneath the box because if he loops it from the top he doesnt want any rain getting into the box.

Problems -

1. If he does it from the inside, he can cover the wire with a white strip (wall is painted white) but im getting the feeling it will be unsightly...what do you think?

2. My old man is really throwing a fit, he doesnt want it to be out in the open running on the bottom of the house wall, he says that the cable is prone to damage and weathering and its exposed so someone can mess it up as its an electric live wire.

He also used the reasoning of the garage wire. He said the garage wires are always underground for the reason that they dont get damaged or weathered or are exposed.

Is he too old fashioned? Is my wire safe on the outside? Should i get them to dig it up and then put the wire underground?

Please advise! We've been without a cooker now for 2 weeks nearly and more and more problems are coming up.

The electrician quoted £160 to put a new box in the cellar, pull the cabling from the outside, armour cable it and then drill and put the box through the wall into my house.

Shall i get someone to go through the floorboards instead and spend their time looking for this cable?

NB: I DO have about 3 wires coming out of the wall where my cooker was, but the electrician said these wires are only for switches and are not the 40amp cable.

I also have i think two wires about 1 and a half meters above the other wires, and the electrician said this is for the extractor.

have you pulled the fuse for the cooker, then checked if there are any sockets not working. sometimes we come accross this, if there was all gas cooker.
