Adobe software from US, advertised on Amazon - cheap?

This looks legit and advertised as sponsored links on Amazon, e.g. Photoshop CS3 (one below current CS4) for £88

https://www.regnow.com/softsell/nph-softsell.cgi?items=4519-48

Or the full CS3 suite for £247

https://www.regnow.com/softsell/nph-softsell.cgi?items=4519-47

Are these real commercial versions, I can't see student editions listed anywhere, has anyone else used them, if Amazon are listing their links, is it safe to assume they are.... safe?

They're both older versions. Photoshop CS4 is $631.99 from Amazon, and Adobe CS4 is $1,489.99.

Amazon are still selling Adobe CS3 for $1,500 though.

The site you linked to offers a download of the software, which sounds a bit dodgy. You can download it from Adobe, but I'm not aware of anywhere else that offers a legitimate download.

Photoshop Elements is £57 for Windows and £50 for the Mac from Amazon.

It's a very powerful application in its own right, and does everything a home user could ask of it.

At that price, it's an absolute steal.

Yeah I know they it's an older version, but CS3 still does what we need (GIMP doesn't cut the mustard nor does elements, too much prepress and cmyk seps), want to add it to 2 users laptops who work are freelancers, so just trying to find them a good deal as we aren't buying it for them, they are, and want it legal, but cheap if possible.

I can't figure why Amazon is allowed to publised links if they might not be legit, this is another one listed constantly: http://www.getcheapsoftwares.com/

The first has option to download (which I thought was dodgy) or to add £8 for a disc.

Firstly always look around the website to see if they have published their business address, if not that should flag up suspicion, if published do a search on the business address to see if it exists, also learn how to use "whois" to find out about the domain registration.

In the case of the above domain, I could not find any business address and the whois tells you absolutely nothing as to the owner address etc, it was done through a proxy registrar so you cannot find out who exactly owns the domain.

So would you by from a company with no business address and who hides its credentials ?

The first company (www.regnow.com) is totally legit if you use your reckoning, it's run by Digital River: http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/regnow.com
Will full credentials, address, contacts and so forth.

The second has registered via Domains by Proxy, so is hiding details, potentially being unsafe, but plenty of uk sole traders can legally hide their details to prevent spam with WHOIS opt-out, so it's not the most accurate indicator, as this just may be a US accepted method, still I'd not trade with them for these reasons.

However this doesn't really get to the point, surely Amazon.co.uk, a well respected company, wouldn't be advertising or allowed to advertise, anything which might not be legal, considering they carry all the full products and are a distributor for Adobe themselves.

For example, main Photoshop CS3 product page on Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000O17CQ0/
