If someone has let's say around 5,000 pounds that will have to be dispensed in around 6 months and thus cannot be risked at all, but the person does not want to 'waste' it on a no-interest current account deposit, what can be done with such a sum over a half-year or so for purposes of earning something on it?

Kent Reliance BS ISA @ 4.96% gross for the first £3K
Northern Rock Tracker online @ 5.01% net for the remaining £2K.0 -
The Northern Rock website suggests that it's 5.01% gross, not net. Still, a good rate.0
