Google Chrome won't dial up, but Firefox and IE will.

This is a bit odd.
Both Firefox and IE will automatically "dial up" to my broadband connection.
Google Chrome won't.
So I have to connect first with one of the others and then open Chrome.
I've had a quick google search and tried the obvious proxy settings etc. I'm wondering if the firewall is stopping it.
I get the message: "Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): The server could not be found."
Seems quite common: http://groups.google.com/group/google-chrome-help-troubleshooting/browse_thread/thread/26c86740a23a1457

Dial-up? Have you considered getting a router or is that not an option?tomstickland wrote: »Both Firefox and IE will automatically "dial up" to my broadband connection.0 -
I've got a modem connected to my PC via a USB cable.
When it connects it sends user ID and password to ISP.
It is broadband.Happy chappy0 -
What happens if you set Chrome as the default browser?0

Is it vital that you use Chrome?
Firefox is much more reliable, safer and better looking IMO

I use ie, Firefox and Chrome, depending on which website I'm using.
Chrome is the fastest.
ie is the only choice for some sites.
Firefox is not much better than ie, but a bit better sometimes.Happy chappy0 -

Home routers perform NAT so that many computers can share a single IP address; NAT is the cause of many problems so is best avoided if possible.
Also most such routers do not support IPv6 which will result in a (greater) overhead from the use of tunnels; one can expect widespread adoption of IPv6 in the next few years.0 -

Short of using another computer to handle the connection, I can't think of any alternatives. If you have a better idea I'd like to hear it.TimothyEBaldwin wrote: »Home routers perform NAT so that many computers can share a single IP address; NAT is the cause of many problems so is best avoided if possible.
