Hi ppl
I'm gonna go & buy a new PC from PC World for around £679. They are currently offering a package with a 17" TFT for £899. (See Advent T11 on their website http://www.pcworld.co.uk).
I have found out that this is a Proview 17" TFT (after much research) and wondered if it is really worth the extra £220 when I have seen other 17" TFT monitors for £140 delivered. (Could use the £80 for something else)
Here's the monitor supplied with the PC World package (its the 782 model) http://www.proview-group.nl/lcdseries/82lcdseries.htm
and here are my alternatives.
Microdirect 17 TFT - http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=7154
Aria Premium 17" TFT - http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductsList.asp?Name=MON-TFT-A-V17S
Aria 17" TFT http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductsList.asp?Name=MON-TFT-1715
Can someone tell me what the differences between the PC World model and the others and which one is the best one to go with and why. ???
Thanks
WJUK
ps - A response as soon as possible would be most grateful as I want to order the PC etc tomorrow ;D

I couldn't see a huge difference except the PCW one has speakers. Most are 16ms response times, so if you play 3d games and want to reduce the risk of ghosting, i'd go for the fast 12ms aria one.0

They all have speakers just the PC World one is on the front.
Don't really play games much to be honest either.
Which is the better out of the 16ms ones?0 -
17" Digimate L-1715 TFT Monitor
Because 450:1 ratio is similar to the PCW one, but it can display 16.7 million colors which the 782 cant (around 272,000 colors on the 782).
Obviously there isnt much difference in terms of specs, but u assume the more u pay, the better the quality (except for the PCW monitor).
Any of the Aria.co.uk monitors i'd say.0 -
Whichever you decide, make sure you see it working. You need to set the screen background to black to see if you have any stuck (on) pixels, and then open notepad etc and maximise it. Make sure there are no dead pixels.
I bought one from PC World on mail order. Their policy (from a year ago or so) was that you have to have 3 dead pixels in the size of a 2p coin. You can have a few hundred dead pixels before they magically appear in that space!!
I also have an Eizo Flexscan which has been superb for about 5 years - so you get what you pay for.0 -
NEVER buy a monitor from pc world , they deny the shoppers rights , they swap out dead ones with repaired ones and you have to be in for delivery -day off work.
I have replaced a monitor 14 times , they then they said it wasnt a fault and that the convergence was identical to the manufacturers spec , the manufacturer in the eu gave a 3yr warranty but not if you buy from pcworld.
Funny thing is the orignal monitor that was replaced with a perfect convergence was through a faulty psu , EVERY replacement after that had bleed on white black.
NOTE-proview is the lowest spec available and its likeley that the tft ones offered are above 25ms which is poor for games and video....and overpriced for the pleasure. For the same price you could probably get a illyama low spec with better quality.0
