Renting my half of the property??

Hi,

I have a mortgage on a flat with my friend.

I recently moved back home with my parents to save some money for a deposit so that me and my girlfriend can rent a place.

I am still paying the mortgage on the flat minus bills which saves me about £150 per month which will go towards a deposit.

I was just wondering whether I am entitled to get someone in to rent my half of the property or do I not have any say in this as it will be my friend that has to put up with the new person?

Hope this makes sense?

I dont know the law on this but I suspect that even if you could do it, it would be almost impossible to force your friend to share with someone if they didnt want to, I mean all your friend has to do is make the place look like a tip and nobody is going to want to share with him/her.

I guess the answer is to ask your friend if he/she is willing to allow you to do this, then ask your mortgage lender if they will permit this, then work out any associated costs.
