Hi everyone
Finally decided to stop lurking and post! LIke many others (I suspect) I want to switch from Scottish Power Fix Price Online at the end of the month to EDF. However I obviously don't want to pay the penalty for leaving my fixed price early, but on the other hand don't want to miss out on £60 with Topcashback as well as getting on EDF's limited offer Online V5.
As I've never switched before I've no idea when to start the switch to avoid the Scottish Power penalty.
Can anyone help with this?

I am in the same position as you and i did mine last night. I read on there terms and conditions it takes 4-6weeks to change over but when i got an email confirming the offer it said 6-8 weeks which will be after 31st August. They also advised we would receive a letter advising when the change over will take place and also you have 12 days to cancel if you wanted to.
My thought was and i'm no expert if the date was before the 31st i would ring and speak to them as i have 12 days to cancel if they couldn't sort it out.
I'm hoping someone with more knowledge regarding this sort of thing will come along and advise you and me.
I hope this helps you in the meantime

    Thank you Pippy

What you said makes sense but maybe some experts can confirm

I am in the same boat.

I phoned edf but was told to email them due to the new plan being an online plan. When I get a reply, which will be in under 10 days, I'll post it here if we don't get any more news before then.

I have just received the reply from edf about timings for the switch. My plan runs out 31st August:

We have had quite a few customers with the same issue and what we have been told is that if you apply 1 week before the 31st August you will not incur any penalty charges.

The maximum time is 8 weeks but to be honest it is around 4-5 and we always aim to get the change done with the least fuss.
I'm sure I went upstairs for some reason.
